Project 52 – Week 16: Fantasy

Project 52 – Week 16: Fantasy

This week’s Project 52 theme is Fantasy.

I have long been a participant of a special project for pet photographers, named “Project 52”. For this project a group of pet photographers comes together and takes photographs around that week’s theme. The goal is to step outside your comfort zone, and challenge yourself to do things you would normally not do. By doing this, you learn more, you learn to think out of the box and you improve your photography!

I didn’t have too much time this week for this challenge, but still managed to find an image!

Jace knew something was around….. but ended up not finding what he was looking for. Little did he know … 🙂

Next up in the blog Circle is St. Cloud MN dog photographer About A Dog Photography – follow the link to her blog, and then keep following the links at the bottom of the blog posts until you’re back here at Amyranth Pet Photography!

Project 52 – Week 15: Breaking the Rules

Project 52 – Week 15: Breaking the Rules

This week’s Project 52 is all about breaking the rules! Photography has a LOT of rules… and rules are meant to be broken! Generally these rules help with taking better and more visually interesting photographs.

The specific rule I broke with this image is one of the most well known ones: The Rule of Thirds. Generally, when you compose your image, you try to put your subject on one of these lines:

And well… I didn’t. Am I not a huge rebel? 😉 Oh wait… I needed to this week – never mind 😀 This image features Jace Centered in the middle of the frame, effectively avoiding all of the lines for a classic ‘rule of thirds’ shot. It works for this image because he is framed by the flowers.. and well he’s just so darn cute! 😉

I wish I had more images to show you this week, but frankly: The rules exist for a reason. They create better photographs. I find it easier to break the rules with Nature and Macro photography: Pet Photography is hard enough as it is without trying to break or avoid rules. I’m busy enough making sure that dog keeps sitting while I try to take a photograph: All the while I’m composing an image, making sure I have the right depth of field going on (wouldn’t do to have the eyes out of focus!) having the dog (or cat, horse or other pet) pay attention to me (okay that one isn’t too hard….. I make the weirdest sounds to get their attention, haha!) except for when it’s my own pets, because they know the weird stuff I do and they are totally used to it, ha!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Project 52 Blog post. Head on over to Jodie from Pawtrait Purrfection, serving Pets and People in Ipswich, Australia – and keep following all the links in the blog circle until you end up back here!

Project 52 – Week 13: Green

Project 52 – Week 13: Green

I have long been a participant of a special project for pet photographers, named “Project 52”. For this project a group of pet photographers comes together and takes photographs around that week’s theme. The goal is to step outside your comfort zone, and challenge yourself to do things you would normally not do. By doing this, you learn more, you learn to think out of the box and you improve your photography! It’s been a year since I last had the time to participate, so I am beyond happy to jump back in. This week theme is “Green”. It’s still a bit of a challenge to find green in nature as everything is still transitioning, but I think I found a few good images with a green theme!

Doesn’t he just look like the happiest dog alive? Or Cutest?? I know, I know, I’m biased 😉

And while he is not technically a pet, it’s the third time I saw this little guy hanging around my back porch, and since he is GREEN he gets a honorary spot in today’s project 52’s post. I’m pretty sure it’s an Anole Lizard. He absolutely loves to lounge in the sun on my porch, and I really like having him around! Sadly I haven’t been able to catch a picture of him with his Throat Fan bared but maybe in the future I will!
